Sr. QA Engineer

We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer with 7+ years experience to join our team with good experience in web-based applications and in-depth knowledge of quality assurance process and tools.

Main Responsibilities:

- Design and execute test plans/test cases for functional and end-to-end integration testing

- Work closely with Development, Product Management, and Network Operations teams to identify test requirements

Qualifications:

- 5+ years of experience in Web applications testing

- Good experience in distributed systems, black and white box testing, and test automation

- Familiar with Linux/Unix such as RedHat, Ubuntu, Solaris

- Familiar with scripting languages such as shell, Python, Perl

- Familiar with web debugging tools (Firebug, Fiddler, etc.)

- Familiar with API/UI test automation tools

- Hands-on knowledge of MSC Windows 7 platform

- Hands-on knowledge of SQL and relational database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle)

- Solid understanding of software development cycle with emphasis on SQA area

- Familiar with defect tracking systems and test management tools

- B.S in Computer Science or related field (M.S. a plus)

- Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Preferable Qualifications:

- Familiar with mobile communications and technology

- Familiar with Apple iOS and Google Android ecosystems
- Familiar with gesture-based application testing on tablet (Android or iOS)

Executive Director, Customer Acquisition

Position: 

Reporting to the EVP, Marketing, Brodie Keast, the Executive Director, Customer Acquisition will be responsible for acquiring and retaining customers.  This person will be a member of the marketing management team, contributing towards setting the strategic direction of the company, particularly in the areas of branding/positioning and marketing communications.

He/she will manage the planning, strategy, implementation, and tracking of customer acquisition programs, including online customer acquisition via mobile advertising, paid media, paid and natural search, affiliate programs and other channels.  The Executive Director will align campaigns with our social, partner and publisher marketing teams and collaborate on store merchandising, but is ultimately responsible for driving discovery of the NIM brand, website traffic, customer conversion and retention.

Responsibilities:

- Lead business and financial analysis, including customer acquisition forecasting, monitoring, and reporting of progress against goals

- Meet agreed subscriber acquisition goals as per schedule and budget

- Define and execute against customer acquisition strategy

- Increasing conversion by developing in-house analytics capabilities and employing best practices in direct marketing to hone messaging, merchandising, offers and user flows

- Develop and execute CRM/email programs

- Drive requirements for ongoing front- and back-end improvements to website

- Hire and provide supervision for a full time marketing analyst

- Ensure clear communication and alignment across marketing, agencies and partners

- Increase revenue per customer and loyalty, reducing churn, through marketing campaigns, promotional ideas and driving cross-sell/upsell purchases

- Bring customer and partner feedback to influence the long-term product roadmap

- Develop new marketing channels working with business development

Experience and Skills:

- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or equivalent experience preferred

- 10 years+ consumer marketing with 5+ years of online marketing or e-commerce

- Proven track record of delivering online user acquisition results in start-up growth stage environment

- Has independently created, launched and measured online marketing programs through channels including mobile advertising, SEM/SEO, display advertising, affiliate marketing and social media marketing

- Strong program management skills.  Ensures predictable execution.  Anticipates risks and has contingency plans.

- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.  Comfort and experience with tracking and analyzing data, web analytics; SQL knowledge is a plus

- Excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to influence others internally and external

Next Issue is currently looking for a talented Senior Product Manager to help us develop next-gen iPad and Android tablet experiences for magazine consumers.  This role will participate in strategy, planning and implementation to develop an end-to-end publishing platform delivering magazine content in a fun, fast-paced startup environment.

Requirements:

- 3+ years of product management experience in the software space.

- Demonstrated record of defining, driving and successfully launching products in an agile development environment.

- Domain experience in iOS and Android mobile applications a plus.

- Experience in eCommerce and Web flows, as well as Web Analytics tools also a big plus.

- Self-starter with strong attention to detail and ability to communicate ideas effectively.

Next Issue is searching for a highly motivated,server side Java engineer to help our team bring the power of digital editions of the most trusted magazine titles in the world to a new level of engagement, only possible on tablets.

The ideal candidate will be fluent in Java and SQL and have experience utilizing tools for data aggregation and analysis. In addition, the candidate must be able to document processes and communicate with other team members. We are looking for an individual with a wide breadth and depth of knowledge of Server side Java development with Spring framework experience and the skills to be part of the Next Issue Server Side team. A strong background with databases, data architecture, and relational modeling with some programming background is a plus. Bay Area candidates strongly preferred.

Desired Skills & Experience:

B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent. Experience working with multiple teams and digesting and translating requirements into working product. 3-5 years of server side Java development coupled with strong management ability and strong business sense. Understands Spring batch framework. Worked with databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL. Understands the logical and physical components of data definitions.
